What I Eat In A Day: The Ultimate Celebrity Trainer Nutrition Guide
Hey guys, Magnus Lygdback here, your personal trainer, nutritionist, and life coach. After two decades in the game, working with artists and Hollywood stars, like Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck, on some of the biggest productions, it's time to invite you into my world, and walk you through my ultimate celebrity trainer nutrition guide.
Nutrition can often feel like navigating a jungle. There are so many diets out there, each claiming to be the holy grail of health and fitness. It can be challenging to know what's genuinely beneficial from what's just hype.
My philosophy revolves around balance – yes, we should prioritize health and longevity, but we should also savor life.
What's the point of having a long life if you're constantly obsessing over what goes into your body and missing out on your favorite foods? I'm a firm believer in balance, and today, I'm going to walk you through everything I eat in a day to stay on top of my game
Balancing Act: Meals and Frequency
First things first, let's talk about meal frequency. I aim to eat roughly every three hours, which is around five meals a day. This strategy helps maintain stable blood sugar and insulin levels throughout the day.
Of course, if you're following an all-fat diet or a different eating plan, your meal frequency may vary. For me, it's about striking that balance.
My day usually kicks off with breakfast, followed by a snack, lunch, another snack, and dinner.
However, life isn't always so regimented. If I wake up late or my schedule shifts, I adjust accordingly. Sometimes, I'll skip a meal or combine a couple. It's all about what works best for you and your lifestyle.
Now, let's talk about what I pay attention to in my diet. I make a conscious effort to steer clear of sugar and fast carbs. Around 17 out of 20 meals I eat are focused on avoiding these. I believe in cycles, specifically four-day chunks.
That means 17 out of 20 meals are spot on, while the remaining three can be more relaxed. After all, it's essential to enjoy life.
Breakfast: A Hearty Omelette
Now, let's delve into a typical breakfast for me – the beloved omelet.
Eggs are a fantastic source of protein, and my morning often starts with them. Whether it's an omelet, scrambled eggs, or poached eggs, I keep it versatile. Usually, I whip up a four-egg omelet. That's about 20 grams of protein from the eggs alone.
I season it with a pinch of salt and pepper, and I like to cook it in butter for added flavor. Of course, you can use avocado oil or olive oil if that's more your style. Buttery goodness aside, I love to experiment with omelet fillings. It could be smoked ham, sun-dried tomatoes, cheese – sometimes, I opt for fresh basil, artichoke, tomatoes, and a drizzle of pesto.
Some folks claim they don't have time for breakfast, but I beg to differ. Scrambling eggs is the quickest way to whip up a nutritious breakfast in just three minutes. An omelet might take a bit longer – say, five to seven minutes if you're efficient – but it's time well spent. Variety keeps things exciting when you're eating eggs daily.
Snacking with Purpose
Next up are snacks, and I typically enjoy two of them throughout the day. If I'll be working through half the day, I'll prepare a protein shake for convenience.
This shake usually consists of 40 grams of protein, which I'll mix with water when I'm ready to consume it. It's worth noting that when I time my workout with a snack, I make sure to incorporate carbs, which are crucial for recovery.
For those who believe they're too busy to prepare breakfast, a protein shake is an even quicker option, taking only three minutes to make. But since I consume eggs regularly, I try to keep things interesting with my shakes. Now, onto the second snack of the day.
Lunch: A Beachside Treat
Lunchtime offers a chance to savor a delicious meal. I like to have grilled salmon, potatoes, and a medley of vegetables. It's a balanced meal with slow carbs and lean protein, ideal for replenishing energy and nutrients.
One thing I insist upon is knowing the source of my meat. In this case, I ordered this particular cut of salmon straight from a farmer in Ohio. Understanding where your food comes from ensures its quality and authenticity. It's a practice I highly recommend if you're particular about what you eat.
Afternoon Snack: Yogurt Bliss
Now, let's chat about the second snack of the day, which comes about three and a half hours after lunch. While I aim for snacks every three hours, I remain flexible based on my schedule. I often like to sip on some kombucha, a choice I make three to five times a week.
Accompanying the kombucha is unsweetened Greek yogurt, a protein-packed favorite. To spruce it up, I add some chopped apples, walnuts, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It's a snack that not only tastes fantastic but also delivers on the nutrition front.
Dinner: A Culinary Masterpiece
As the day winds down, it's time for dinner, and sometimes I'm in the mood for something special. Organic, grass-fed ribeye steak is often a great choice, accompanied by a vibrant salad. Red meat is the perfect protein source. The salad boasts radish, organic carrots, kale, fennel, baby arugula, and baby spinach. A blend of textures and flavors that tantalizes the taste buds.
When it comes to meat, I'm meticulous about sourcing it directly from trusted farmers. It allows me to have complete confidence in the quality and origin of my food. The ribeye I'm enjoying tonight comes from Ohio, ordered straight from the farmer. If you're equally keen on knowing where your meat comes from, consider seeking direct sources.
In summary, my nutrition philosophy revolves around balance, enjoyment, and quality. I believe in savoring life while prioritizing health.
